It is non fluorine–based  two components water repellent system.

Key Features and Typical Benefits

2. Applications

MNA & MNB are two components & non-fluorinated water-repellent finishing agents. MNA  should be co-applied with MNB  in the finishing bath. In lab tests, such a blend in the bath has exhibited a pot-life of up to 48 hours at a pH range of 4 to 10. The blend may then be applied by virtually all the typical means, such as padding, exhaustion, spraying or printing.

Dose level:

Optimum dosage levels of MNA & MNB are subject to the type of fabric and the level of performance required. Generally  10~30 g/l of MNA blended with 3~9 g/l of MNB are generally recommended.

The optimized ratio of MNA to MNB is 10:3.

As a starting point, 10g/l MNA co-applied with 3g/l MNB in a bath is recommended for thin  fabric & 20g/l MNA & 6g/l  MNB is recommended  for thick fabric . The dose levels can subsequently be adjusted to achieve the required performance.

It is also important to rinse the fabric thoroughly to enhance picking up & encapsulation of MNA & MNB before applying MNA & MNB.

 2.1 Bath Solution  pH for MNA & MNB

The bath solution  pH 6-8 is typically recommended.   Bath pH can be adjusted by acetic acid or sodium hydroxide (10%).

2.2 Drying & Curing Conditions

MNA & MNB do not require unusual drying and curing conditions or equipment. The commonly used drying and curing conditions are mostly applicable for MNA & MNB. Optimum performance can be achieved by drying at 100~130°C for 2min followed by 150~170°C for 1min.

2.3 Combination with a Water-Repellent Fluorocarbon

A typical water-repellent fluorocarbon may be co-applied with MNA & MNB in a finishing bath to further improve the water repellence in addition to achieving moderate oil/stain repellence and hand feel. It is recommended that lab tests be performed to establish the optimum conditions and bath ratios of the combination in order to achieve the performance required.

A starting bath formulation of the combination may consist of 10 parts MNA, 3 parts MNB and 3 parts of a typical water repellent fluorocarbon (30% solids).

If required, pre-blending of MNA with a typical water repellent fluorocarbon (30% solids) may be a viable alternative. In this case, the blend needs to be co-applied with MNB in the finishing bath.

It is recommended to use a water repellent fluorocarbon (30% solids) that contains no extenders, such as paraffin wax emulsions or polyethylene wax emulsions. The compatibility of the blend needs to be determined by lab testing in advance to ensure problem free operations.

 3. Sample recipes:

3.1 Exhausting Process:

Bath solution (liquid ratio 1:10) à dipping fabric into bath solution ( 35°C, 40 min)àspinningàdryingè overnight conditioning à Water repellency testing (AATCC-22)

Cotton knitted fabric:

2.0% (o.w.f.) of  MNA & 0.3% of MNB  for thin fabric

3.0% (o.w.f.) of MNA & 0.9% of MNB for thick fabric

3.2 Bath-Padding Process:

Bath solutionà Dried fabricà One dipping + one padding(3.0kg/cm2) à Heat setting (170 °C for 2 min) à Overnight conditioningà Water repellence evaluation (AATCC-22).

Cotton knitted fabric:

20g/l of MNA & 6g/l of MNB for thin knitted fabric

30g/l of MNA & 9g/l of MNB for thick fabric

3.3 Spraying

Bath solution à Spraying on fabric or garments à Drying & curing at 130-170 °C

20g/l of MNA & 6g/l of MNB for thin knitted fabric

30g/l of MNA & 9g/l of MNB for thick fabric

5. Stripping

To strip off the treated fabrics such as cotton, CVC, Nylon, PE, the following conditions are applied

NaOH (30%): 7g/l

Detergent     : 7g/l

Liquid Ration: 1:7-10

100 °C for 40 min

7. Storage and Handling

To ensure that the product quality is maintained, please check expired date and try to use up before expired date. During storage, the container should be tightly sealed when not in use.  Store at normal room temperature, and prevent prolonged exposure to extreme heat or freezing.
